“God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.” Sing to the Lord – Music in Divine Worship
Music is an integral part of our liturgical celebrations, allowing us to lift our voices in song as members of the Body of Christ. Our parish music ministries help unite our entire community to sing God's praise and enter more deeply into the mysteries we celebrate. For more information about our parish music ministries, please contact our Music Director, Dan Klocke.
Parish Music Ministries
Adult Choir practices on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the church from September through late May or early June. Our core parish choir lends support and strength to our communal singing and offers choral music both old and new from the Church's diverse tradition of sacred music and liturgical song. We are always ready to welcome both new singers and experienced choral musicians! To allow as many singers as possible to participate, singers may join for the entire choir year (September - early June), or join for the Advent/Christmas and/or Lent/Easter seasons.
Bell Choir practices on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the church from September through May or June. Through joyful ringing, the Bell Choir adds unique depth to our hymns of praise throughout the liturgical year.
Children's Choir provides children in grades 2-5 a wonderful opportunity to develop and share their gifts, offer joyful praise to God, and serve our parish community. During the school year, the Children's Choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoons after school and sings at the 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses 1-2 times/month. Nativity Parish School, public school, and home school singers are welcome to participate!
Sunday Night Ensemble is our parish music ensemble for middle and high school musicians. In this Spirit-filled group, singers and instrumentalists share their musical gifts with fresh energy at the Sunday 5:00 pm Mass. Virtus-trained adult musicians willing to serve as musical mentors are also welcome.
Resurrection Choir is the perfect fit for someone who likes to sing but is unable to make the weekly commitment for the Adult Choir. Singing for the funeral Masses is a wonderful way to serve our parish families in their time of need.
Cantors (people who lead the singing at Masses). We have a fabulous group of cantors, but it is good to keep growing. If you have had some singing experience and can read music, please consider being part of this ministry. Auditions are kindly requested for interested singers.
Accompanists & Instrumentalists help lead the singing of the entire community through their talent and musical leadership. If you are proficient on an instrument and would like to offer your musical gifts, we would love to welcome you to our music ministry team. Auditions are kindly requested for interested musicians.
